Ingredients

  • Firm Tofu: 400 grams (14 oz)
  • Honey or Maple Syrup: 4 tablespoons
  • Garlic: 4 cloves, minced
  • Soy Sauce: 3 tablespoons
  • Cornstarch: 1/2 cup
  • Sesame Oil: 2 tablespoons
  • Green Onions: 2, chopped
  • Sesame Seeds: 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable Oil: For frying (about 1 cup)

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess moisture for about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Cut the pressed tofu into uniform bite-sized cubes for even cooking.
  3. In a small mixing bowl, combine honey (or maple syrup), minced garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil.
  4. Roll each tofu cube in cornstarch, ensuring an even coat.
  5. In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  6. Fry the tofu cubes until they turn golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. Use a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil from the fried tofu.
  8. In the same skillet, pour in the honey garlic sauce and let it simmer for about a minute.
  9. Gently add the crispy tofu to the sauce, tossing to coat evenly.
