  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • A pinch of salt
  • 4 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Sliced green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) to keep the chicken warm while frying.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment or foil and, if available, place a rack on top.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the egg whites, cornstarch, and salt. Add the chicken pieces and toss to coat.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  5. Add the chicken in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  6. Transfer the fried chicken to the baking sheet and keep warm in the oven.
  7. In a saucepan, combine honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and black pepper. Cook over medium heat until the sauce simmers and thickens slightly.
  8. Pour the sauce over the fried chicken and toss to coat.
  9. Serve immediately, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions.
