Description
Delightful French toast sticks combining the flavors of sweet apples, warm cinnamon, and rich custard-soaked bread.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz Thick-Cut Brioche or Challah
- 2 cups Diced Apples
- 2 large Eggs
- 1 cup Whole Milk
- ¼ cup Apple Cider
- 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons Ground Cinnamon (for coating)
- ¼ teaspoon Ground Nutmeg (optional)
- ¾ cup Rolled Oats
- ¼ cup All-Purpose Flour
- 2 tablespoons Melted Butter
- ¼ cup Pure Maple Syrup
- 2 tablespoons Apple Butter
- Sea Salt (to taste)
Instructions
- Whisk together the eggs, whole milk, apple cider, sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and a pinch of sea salt in a large bowl until smooth. Set aside.
- In another bowl, mix the diced apples, 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, and optional nutmeg. Stir well to coat all the pieces.
- Dip each slice of brioche/challah into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 20-30 seconds on each side.
- On a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Once hot, add the soaked bread and cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove from skillet, coat with the rolled oats and remaining cinnamon mixture, and place on a serving plate.
- Drizzle with pure maple syrup and a dollop of apple butter before serving.
Notes
