Description

A delightful twist on a traditional snack, turning juicy apples into crunchy, satisfying treats, perfect for family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 large apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or your favorite variety)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (or regular breadcrumbs)
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Cooking spray
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (optional)
  • 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (optional)

Instructions

  1. If desired, peel the apples and cut them into wedges about 1/2 inch thick, making sure to remove the core and seeds. Combine cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. In three separate bowls, place the flour, beaten eggs, and panko breadcrumbs. Add half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture to the breadcrumbs and mix thoroughly.
  3. Take each apple wedge and dredge it in the flour, shaking off any excess. Dip it into the egg mixture, ensuring it is well-coated. Finally, press the slice into the breadcrumb mixture and ensure it’s evenly coated. Repeat for all apple slices.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes. Arrange the breaded apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, and spray lightly with cooking spray. Fry for about 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  5. While the apple fries are still hot, sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture for added sweetness. Serve immediately with caramel sauce or vanilla yogurt for dipping.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer for best results.
