Description
A delightful twist on a traditional snack, turning juicy apples into crunchy, satisfying treats, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or your favorite variety)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (or regular breadcrumbs)
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- Cooking spray
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce (optional)
- 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (optional)
Instructions
- If desired, peel the apples and cut them into wedges about 1/2 inch thick, making sure to remove the core and seeds. Combine cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl and set aside.
- In three separate bowls, place the flour, beaten eggs, and panko breadcrumbs. Add half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture to the breadcrumbs and mix thoroughly.
- Take each apple wedge and dredge it in the flour, shaking off any excess. Dip it into the egg mixture, ensuring it is well-coated. Finally, press the slice into the breadcrumb mixture and ensure it’s evenly coated. Repeat for all apple slices.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes. Arrange the breaded apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, and spray lightly with cooking spray. Fry for about 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
- While the apple fries are still hot, sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture for added sweetness. Serve immediately with caramel sauce or vanilla yogurt for dipping.
Notes
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer for best results.
