Description

A decadent brunch dish featuring brioche bread soaked in a rich custard, topped with a caramelized sugar crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of brioche bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • Butter (for greasing the baking dish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and greast the baking dish with butter.
  2. Cut the brioche into thick slices and arrange them in the greased dish.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  4. Pour the custard mixture over the brioche slices, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
  5. Just before baking, sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the top of the soaked bread.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and set.
  7. Serve warm, optionally with fresh fruits or whipped cream.

Notes

For the best flavor, soak the bread overnight. Use a kitchen torch or broiler for caramelizing the sugar on top.
