Crème Brûlée French Toast

  • Total Time: 155 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

A decadent fusion of the classic crème brûlée and hearty French toast, perfect for special occasions or weekend brunches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of French bread
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Sugar for caramelizing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Slice the French bread into thick pieces and arrange them in the baking dish.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread, ensuring each piece is well-soaked. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  5. Bake the French toast in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until golden and set.
  6. Allow it to cool slightly, then sprinkle sugar evenly on top. Use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar, creating a bubbly, golden crust.
  7. Serve warm and savor the decadence!

Notes

For best results, use day-old French bread and consider adding a splash of orange or almond extract for added flavor.
