Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef or lamb
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Black olives (for decoration)
  • Green food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground meat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add onions, carrots, celery, and garlic. Cook until vegetables are softened.
  4. Stir in peas, beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Spread the meat mixture in the bottom of a baking dish.
  6. Top with mashed potatoes, smoothing out the top.
  7. Use a fork to create spooky designs in the potatoes.
  8. If desired, add black olives for eyes.
  9. Optional: Mix green food coloring into the mashed potatoes for a creepy effect.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
