Description
A comforting and indulgent creamy steak pasta dish infused with garlic and parmesan, perfect for weeknights or special occasions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 ounces fettuccine or penne pasta
- 1 pound sirloin or ribeye steak, thinly sliced
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley, chopped
- Additional grated parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- In a large pot of salted water, boil your pasta according to the package instructions. Drain well and reserve 1/2 cup of the cooking water.
- Season the sliced steak generously with salt and black pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the steak pieces until browned, about 2–3 minutes per side. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
- Lower the heat to medium and add butter to the same skillet. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until aromatic.
- Deglaze the skillet by pouring in beef broth, scraping any browned bits from the bottom. Let it simmer for about 2 minutes.
- Pour in the heavy cream and stir in the grated parmesan cheese. Keep stirring regularly and let the sauce simmer for 3–4 minutes until it thickens. If you like a little heat, add the crushed red pepper flakes.
- Combine the cooked pasta with the sauce, tossing to coat. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water until you reach your desired consistency.
- Finally, return the cooked steak to the skillet and gently mix.
- Serve immediately, topped with freshly chopped parsley and extra grated parmesan if desired.
Notes
For a lighter option, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half. Top with sautéed mushrooms or fresh greens for creative variations.
