Delightful cranberry orange scones that offer a perfect combination of sweet and tart, ideal for any morning or occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the chilled butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the dried cranberries and orange zest.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk the orange juice, egg, and vanilla extract together.
  6. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  7. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times.

  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For variety, you can substitute dried cranberries with fresh ones, or try different citrus zest for a twist.
