Description

A sensational take on the classic green bean casserole, featuring sweet-savory sauce and crispy bacon.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 cans (14.5 oz each) cut green beans, drained
  • 8 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Drain on paper towels and crumble once cooled.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper until smooth.
  4. In the greased baking dish, place the drained green beans. Pour the sauce evenly over the beans and toss to coat.
  5. Sprinkle the crumbled bacon on top.
  6. Bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbly and slightly thickened.
  7. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For a crunchier topping, consider adding fried onions before baking. Substitute half of the butter with olive oil for a healthier alternative.
