- 1/4 cup buttermilk (or substitute with milk and lemon juice)
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Gel food coloring (pink and blue)
- Cotton candy flavoring (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set this aside.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the buttermilk, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry mix to the wet mixture, stirring until you have a smooth dough.
- Split the dough into two halves. Add pink gel food coloring to one half and blue to the other, kneading until the colors are vivid.
- Use cookie scoops or your hands to create small balls, alternating between the pink and blue dough.
- Place the cookies on the prepared sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are golden.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
