Classic Southern Pecan Pie

  • Total Time: 70 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

A comforting and traditional Southern pecan pie that perfectly balances sweetness and nutty flavors, ideal for holidays and family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie crust
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 3 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Carefully press the unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate. Feel free to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well mixed.
  4. In another bowl, whisk the lightly beaten eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract together.
  5. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ones, mixing until everything is well incorporated.
  6. Gently stir in the pecan halves, ensuring they are evenly distributed within the filling.
  7. Pour the pecan mixture into the prepared pie crust.
  8. Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the filling is set and the crust is golden. If the edges brown too quickly, loosely tent them with aluminum foil.
  9. Allow the pie to cool completely on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serving tips include pairing with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. For a twist, try adding bourbon or chocolate chips.
