Description
A comforting and traditional Southern pecan pie that perfectly balances sweetness and nutty flavors, ideal for holidays and family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie crust
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 3 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups pecan halves
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Carefully press the unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate. Feel free to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well mixed.
- In another bowl, whisk the lightly beaten eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract together.
- Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ones, mixing until everything is well incorporated.
- Gently stir in the pecan halves, ensuring they are evenly distributed within the filling.
- Pour the pecan mixture into the prepared pie crust.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the filling is set and the crust is golden. If the edges brown too quickly, loosely tent them with aluminum foil.
- Allow the pie to cool completely on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
Notes
Serving tips include pairing with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. For a twist, try adding bourbon or chocolate chips.
