Description

Delightful homemade cinnamon rolls, soft and aromatic, perfect for breakfast or a snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting)
  • 1 packet instant yeast (about 2ΒΌ teaspoons)
  • Β½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk (warm)
  • ΒΌ cup butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • For the filling:
  • Β½ cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • ΒΌ cup butter, softened
  • For the icing:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • Β½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Mix well.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the warm milk and softened butter. Slowly add this mixture to the dry ingredients. Mix until it forms a sticky dough.
  3. Add the eggs and the remaining flour, one cup at a time, until the dough starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  5. While the dough is rising, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Set aside.
  6. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about Β½ inch thick.
  7. Spread the softened butter over the dough, leaving a small edge around the sides. Sprinkle the cinnamon and brown sugar mixture evenly over the butter.
  8. Starting from one long side, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the edges to seal.
  9. Cut the rolled dough into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish, cut side up.
  10. Cover the rolls with a cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  11. Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
  12. Bake the rolls for about 25-30 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  13. While the rolls are baking, prepare the icing by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  14. Once the rolls are out of the oven, let them cool for a few minutes, then drizzle the icing over the top. Serve warm!
