Description
Deliciously fluffy chocolate glazed donuts that transport you straight to your favorite bakery.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups All-purpose flour (plus 2 tablespoons)
- 1 tablespoon Instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter (melted)
- ½ cup Sugar
- 2 Large eggs
- 7 fluid ounces Water
- Chocolate glaze (your favorite recipe or store-bought)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine 3 cups of flour with the instant yeast, salt, and sugar. Add melted butter and eggs. Mix well. Gradually add water and mix until you have a soft dough. Knead until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface to about ½-inch thick. Cut out donut shapes using a donut cutter or two different-sized round cutters.
- Place the shaped donuts on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover with a cloth, and allow them to puff up again for about 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the donuts until golden brown on each side, usually about 1-2 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
- Prepare your chocolate glaze and dip each warm donut in it, allowing the excess to drip off.
Notes
Ensure your yeast is fresh for the best rise, and fry in small batches to avoid overcrowding.
