Description

A vibrant and aromatic South Asian dish of fried chicken, seasoned with a rich blend of spices and served with rice or naan.


Ingredients

  • 500g chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  3. Mix in the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the chicken pieces to the pan and brown them for about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Stir in the chopped tomatoes along with the garam masala, cumin, coriander, turmeric, and salt.
  6. Cook until the tomatoes become soft and the chicken is well-coated with the spices.
  7. Cover the pan and let it simmer on low heat for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

Notes

Serve with basmati rice or naan. For a refreshing contrast, add cucumber raita.
