A comforting one-dish meal that combines savory ground beef, creamy potatoes, and gooey cheese, perfect for family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Optional: seasonings (garlic powder, paprika)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until soft and translucent.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until nicely browned, draining excess fat. Season with salt, pepper, and optional seasonings.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup with milk and stir until smooth.
  5. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes on the bottom, followed by the beef mixture and remaining sliced potatoes on top.
  6. Pour the soup mixture over everything and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove foil and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes until potatoes are fork-tender and cheese is bubbly.
  9. Allow to sit for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a lighter twist, substitute ground turkey for the beef or use different types of cheese as per preference. Slicing potatoes thinly helps them cook faster.
