Description
A comforting one-dish meal that combines savory ground beef, creamy potatoes, and gooey cheese, perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 medium potatoes, sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Optional: seasonings (garlic powder, paprika)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until soft and translucent.
- Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until nicely browned, draining excess fat. Season with salt, pepper, and optional seasonings.
- In a mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup with milk and stir until smooth.
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes on the bottom, followed by the beef mixture and remaining sliced potatoes on top.
- Pour the soup mixture over everything and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes until potatoes are fork-tender and cheese is bubbly.
- Allow to sit for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For a lighter twist, substitute ground turkey for the beef or use different types of cheese as per preference. Slicing potatoes thinly helps them cook faster.
