Description

These Cheeseburger Skulls combine the classic taste of a cheeseburger with a playful, Halloween-themed shape, making them perfect for parties and family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 tablespoons (56 grams) salted butter, softened
  • 3 1/2 cups (420 grams) all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup (50 grams) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon (9 grams) instant yeast
  • 3/4 cup (170 grams) lukewarm water (100-110°F)
  • 32 ounces 80/20 ground beef
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter, lard, or vegetable oil (for cooking patties)
  • 8 slices cheese (American, Cheddar, Provolone, Havarti, etc.)
  • Optional burger toppings: tomato, lettuce, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, onions, pickles

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Mix well.
  2. Pour in the lukewarm water and add the egg. Stir until the dough starts to come together.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. After rising, punch down the dough and divide it into 8 to 12 equal pieces.
  6. Shape each piece into a ball and then flatten it to create skull shapes. Use a skull-shaped cookie cutter for precision.
  7. Place shaped buns on a greased baking sheet and let them rise again for 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) while the buns rise.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Let cool.
  10. For the patties, season the ground beef with salt and pepper, shape into patties (4-6 ounces each).
  11. In a skillet, heat butter, lard, or oil over medium-high heat and cook patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, adding cheese in the last minute.
  12. Assemble the burgers with cooked patties and desired toppings on the buns.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. For longer storage, wrap and freeze for 2-3 months. Reheat buns at 350°F for about 10 minutes.
