Candied Bacon Crackers

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x
  • Diet: Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free

Description

A delightful combination of sweet and savory that brings together the crunch of bacon with the sweetness of brown sugar and maple syrup, enhanced by a hint of cayenne pepper.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package of your favorite crackers (Ritz or similar)
  • 6 strips of bacon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  3. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until it’s halfway done, flexible but not fully crispy.
  4. Remove the bacon and drain excess fat on a paper towel.
  5. In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper until well combined.
  6. Arrange the crackers on the prepared baking sheet and top each cracker with a piece of the partially cooked bacon.
  7. Drizzle the sweet and spicy sugar mixture over the bacon and crackers generously.
  8. Bake in the oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute regular bacon for turkey bacon and use gluten-free crackers if needed. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
