- 1 package regular-cut bacon (cut in half)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- Black pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
- Cut each slice of bacon in half.
- Wrap a half slice of bacon around each Little Smokie and secure with a toothpick.
- In a zip-top bag, combine the wrapped smokies with brown sugar and shake to coat.
- Arrange the smokies on the baking sheet in a single layer.
- Optional: Sprinkle leftover brown sugar on top and add a dash of black pepper.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until the bacon is crispy and the brown sugar caramelized.
- For extra crispiness, broil for 1-2 minutes, keeping a close watch.
- Let cool slightly before serving warm.
Notes
For a lighter version, try turkey bacon. For added flavor, consider using smoked paprika or garlic powder. They can be prepared a day in advance and stored in the fridge until baking.
