A classic comfort food combining fluffy biscuits and rich sausage gravy, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for gravy)
  • 2 cups milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  3. Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gently stir in the buttermilk until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Knead it gently, then roll out to about 1 inch thick and cut out your biscuits.
  6. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. In a skillet, cook the breakfast sausage over medium heat until browned.
  8. Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir. Gradually add milk, whisking until smooth. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
  9. Pour the sausage gravy over the warm biscuits and enjoy!
