Description
A comforting dish of tender beef simmered in rich gravy, perfect for family dinners or special gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs beef tips (chuck roast, top or bottom round, or steak)
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons flour (optional, for thickening)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add the beef tips and allow them to brown on all sides, creating a delicious crust.
- Toss in the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent.
- Mix in the minced garlic and cook for another minute, stirring to combine.
- Add the sliced mushrooms to the pan and cook until they are tender.
- Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, cover, and let it cook for 90 minutes to 120 minutes, or until the beef is melt-in-your-mouth tender.
- If you prefer a thicker gravy, create a slurry with the flour and a bit of water, then stir it into the gravy. Cook for an additional 10 minutes until thickened.
- Serve hot over rice or mashed potatoes.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat thoroughly before serving.
