Instructions

  1. Rinse the beef liver under cold water and pat it dry. Season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. In a skillet, heat the butter or oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the sliced onions and sauté until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Remove onions from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Add the seasoned beef liver to the same skillet. Sear for 3-4 minutes on each side until browned and cooked to preference. Remove and set aside.
  5. To make the gravy, sprinkle flour into the skillet drippings, stirring to combine and create a roux. Gradually whisk in the beef broth and keep stirring until thickened.
  6. Return the sautéed onions and beef liver to the skillet, ensuring they are coated in the gravy.
  7. Serve warm, paired with mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables.
