Description

Warm, gooey apple dessert in a fun, easy-to-handle form, perfect for family gatherings or holiday festivities.


Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add diced apples, 1/3 cup sugar, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Cook for 4-5 minutes until softened.
  2. Combine 1 tablespoon cornstarch and 2 tablespoons water to make a slurry; stir into apple mixture and cook for 1-2 minutes until thickened. Set aside to cool.
  3. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Separate and flatten each biscuit to about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Place a tablespoon of cooled apple filling in the center of each biscuit. Fold edges over filling, sealing well.
  6. Dip each ball in melted butter, then roll in cinnamon and sugar mixture.
  7. Arrange seam-side down on baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Can add nuts to the filling or experiment with different fruits or spices.
