- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups peeled and diced apples
- Oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the milk and eggs together until well blended.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Gently fold in the diced apples using a spatula.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to about 350°F (175°C).
- Using a spoon, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
- Remove the fritters from the oil and let them drain on paper towels.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Feel free to experiment with different fruits or gluten-free flour. For extra sweetness, toss finished fritters in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar.
