Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup chopped mushrooms
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  3. Form the mixture into patties, making sure they are evenly sized.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat and brown the patties on both sides.
  5. Once browned, transfer the patties to a baking dish.
  6. In the same skillet, add the chopped mushrooms and cook until softened.
  7. Pour the beef broth over the patties in the baking dish, then top with the cooked mushrooms.
  8. Bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the meat is fully cooked.
  9. Serve over a generous bed of mashed potatoes.

Notes

For extra flavor, mix in fresh herbs or add cheese on top before baking. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to three days.
