Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cups peeled and chopped apples
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, combine the sugar, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract, then stir well.
  5. Add the eggs and mix until well combined.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just blended.
  7. Fold in the chopped apples and nuts if using.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  9. Bake for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Allow to cool in the pan before transferring to a wire rack.
