Ingredients

  • 12 manicotti shells
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup spinach, cooked and chopped (optional)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the manicotti shells according to the package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, provolone, spinach (if using), egg, salt, and pepper.
  4. Carefully stuff each manicotti shell with the cheesy mixture.
  5. Spread a layer of marinara sauce at the bottom of a baking dish.
  6. Place the stuffed shells in the dish and cover them with the remaining marinara sauce.
  7. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, consider using freshly grated cheese and adding a pinch of nutmeg to the filling.
