- 12 manicotti shells
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
- 1 cup spinach, cooked and chopped (optional)
- 1 egg
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the manicotti shells according to the package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, provolone, spinach (if using), egg, salt, and pepper.
- Carefully stuff each manicotti shell with the cheesy mixture.
- Spread a layer of marinara sauce at the bottom of a baking dish.
- Place the stuffed shells in the dish and cover them with the remaining marinara sauce.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
Notes
For enhanced flavor, consider using freshly grated cheese and adding a pinch of nutmeg to the filling.
