Instructions
- In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onions and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.

- Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir in the dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. If using sugar, add it here.
- Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer and cook uncovered for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning as necessary.
- Serve hot with your favorite pasta or as a base for various Italian dishes.
Notes
For a richer flavor, consider using fresh herbs or adding a splash of red wine. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
